Lieutenant Governor's Persons with Disabilities Employer Partnership Award
Today, more and more businesses are recognizing that Persons with Disabilities are valued employees and customers in their community. The Lieutenant Governor’s Persons with Disabilities Employer Partnership Award was created to acknowledge and honor those employers who have instituted and promoted best practices towards the employment, independence, and service to persons with disabilities.
For this Award, Nova Scotia is divided into four regions, and from those regions nominations are accepted. Four employers are chosen from amongst the nominations made and according to their specific area. There is one business award per region; one self-employment award per region; one overall business award; and one overall self-employment award.
The four areas are:
- Bridgewater/Yarmouth/Digby
- Kentville/Windsor
- Halifax/Amherst
- Sydney/New Glasgow.
A selection committee is set up to review the nominees and make selections for the Award.
The overall business winner and self-employment winner is presented with the Lieutenant Governor’s Persons with Disabilities Employer Partnership Award by the Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia at the Inclusive Employment Luncheon celebrating the International Day of the Persons with Disabilities.
In addition to the award, employers are highlighted on the Come to Life website, the CPN website, media outlets and local papers.
If you know of an employer, with a business large or small, whom you consider to be an outstanding employer for Persons with Disabilities, we want to hear about it.
We look forward to your participation in this wonderful award. Let us continue to recognize and spread such excellence throughout the Province of Nova Scotia, by bringing this message of excellence for employing Persons with Disabilities to the forefront.
